Frequently Asked Questions
Authenticity and condition
Are your watches authentic?
Yes. Every watch is authenticated by our certified watchmaker before it enters our shop. You receive a certificate of authenticity with every watch. If individual parts are not original, for example a leather strap, this is always stated in the description.
What does “serviced” mean?
The watch is professionally disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and fully serviced. Quartz movements are tested and precisely set, mechanical movements are overhauled and regulated. Afterwards the case and components are refurbished and polished. Before shipping we check every watch one last time.
What is Vermeil?
Vermeil is 925 sterling silver with a layer of gold. On our Vermeil models the case is not just polished but re-plated with a 10 micron layer of 18K yellow gold. This is considerably higher quality and more durable than a thin standard plating.
Are papers and the original box included?
This differs from watch to watch and is stated in the description. A matching, high quality box is always included. Original papers are often no longer available with vintage watches; instead you receive our certificate of authenticity and a 1 year warranty.
Warranty
What warranty do I have?
You receive a 1 year warranty on every watch. If anything is not right during this time, simply get in touch and we will take care of it.
How water resistant is a vintage watch?
Water resistance applies only at the time of testing and is not a lasting property. Please do not wear vintage watches while swimming or showering, and never operate the crown under water.
Strap and size
Is the leather strap an original Cartier strap?
As a rule the leather strap is a high quality new strap, and the buckle is often original Cartier. What exactly is included is always stated in the description. On request we fit an original Cartier leather strap for a surcharge of 150 €.
Can I get a different strap colour?
Yes, we are flexible with leather straps. Whether brown, black, white or another colour: write to us with your wish before or right after your order.
SM or LM, which size fits?
The Cartier Tank Must SM measures 21 × 29 mm and looks very elegant on a slim wrist. The LM measures 23 × 30 mm and is usually the better choice for men or anyone who likes a bit more presence. Both sizes are rather small in the typical vintage style.
